New Subject !
Have you ever noticed that in English, words sometimes sound like what they represent? For example, a lion, instead of "grogner" or "gronder", will snarl. That sounds a lot more like the real noise than the french words do, huh ?
So I was thinking, try to find words that sound like what they mean and compare them to French words meaning the same thing. You might be surprised at the difference. xD

The best example may be 'to burp' instead of 'roter' or 'to slam'. This is a verb I like

Re: -~°Topic in english only!!°~-
lol yess you're right the latter are pretty good examples
an other subject lol
yesterday i have seen the film "le projet blair witch" all is about the unseen in this movie and this is all the more frightening I can't understand why in the second film "le projet blair witch 2" they have changed the story and the way to film the action
the fact that in the first movie the film was filmed through an amateur camera was really ingenious because the audience was directly integrated in the story
why they haven't do that in the sequel!!!!
I protest!!! :ouech:

Yes,me too I prefered the first movie for his original and intersting camera plans...
Blair witch 2 was radically different..maybe because the realisator was not the same who made the first. In the second Blair witch, emotions are really thought like third-person point of view, whereas in the first, camera was totally subjective...people were in a first-person point of view, that is why I was disappointed by Blair witch2,but it wasn't a bad movie after all....

Unfortunately, I'm not able to give you my opinion on those movies... Didn't watch any of them. I always say that I'll lend it at the DVD store, but I always find something more interesting to watch... I'd better go and lend it, if the first one is so wonderful...

Blair with project.. I have only seen the second one, so I can't compare them, but according to my friends the first one is really entertaining. In my eyes, I think that Blair W. P. II is also scaring enough.. argh
But the best film that I have ever seen is obviously 'Battle Royale' <3
It seems to me that there is already a topic like that..meigetsu a écrit:What are you fav movies??

Re: -~°Topic in english only!!°~-
yes there is already a topic about that but for sure it's pretty hard to make a list of our favourite film because films are so different
i love battle royale for his way to present the action as a work of art
Romeo + juliet because it's so beautiful to heard old english in a contemporary society
bienvenue a gattaca for the part of the actors...
then Million dollar baby, American history X etc......

I think my favourite actor is Tom Hanks.I like this guy so much for what he done....examples: "Saving private Ryan","Philadelphia","La Ligne verte","Les Sentier de la Perdition"....all those movies are great (in my opinion)..
Re: -~°Topic in english only!!°~-
:love:o yess!!! Philadelphia i have forgotten this movie too what a marvelous film :ouah: quite sad but a great story very touching .And it soundtrack will remained one of my favourite one!
Re: -~°Topic in english only!!°~-
I like Philadelphia too and I saw a great movie these days "Mystic River" (in portuguese the name is something like "About kids and wolves" (!?!?!) - As always they change the name, but I liked the portuguese version, sounds enigmatic )
There are some brazilian movies that I liked too... but now I want to see the Michael moore's movies and "the motorcycle diaries"

Re: -~°Topic in english only!!°~-
Let me see,
some good movies are:
"City of God"(Cidade de Deus) - about the life on "shanty-towns" (favelas, Cidade de Deus is a big one in Rio) - Good but a bit hard movie.
"Central Station" (Central do Brasil) - good movie and it was indicated to foreign movie on 2000's Oscar. It shows some nice places and have a very good storie. Fernanda Montenegro is an amazing actress and I think that is a good choice.
the last but not least "God is Brazilian" (Deus é brasileiro) has a simp,le storie but has an amazing photo quality! The locations are amazing !!
And you guys? As I'm studying French now I would love to receive some tips about good movies, magazines and books (French ones, of course )!
see ya
